Kayley Deacon-Church
Trainee Counsellor
Hi, I’m a trainee counsellor currently studying at Level 4 with the CPCAB examining board. I'm passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard—whether you're going through something specific or just feeling a bit stuck.
My counselling approach is integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic styles to suit your individual needs. I’m especially interested in Gestalt and Psychodynamic ways of working, which look at how our past experiences can shape the way we think, feel, and behave today. I believe that with the right support, we can start to notice patterns, understand ourselves more deeply, and make space for change.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked for many years supporting adults with learning disabilities in a variety of roles. I also spent time working as a Social Prescriber in GP surgeries, helping people facing a wide range of life challenges—things like loneliness, stress, grief, or feeling overwhelmed by everything going on. I now work as a Senior Support Practitioner, walking alongside people who are managing their mental health day to day.
These experiences have shown me how important it is to have someone you can talk to without fear of judgement—someone who’s there just to listen, support, and help you make sense of things at your own pace.
If you’re thinking about giving counselling a try, I’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to have all the answers or know exactly what to say—just come as you are.
